I still love this song. It was a new direction in songwriting for me - written from someone else's perspective (GASP WOW!!!) Years later it became about sexuality / gender identity as much as it was about love/lust/christian families...
lyrics
I lie there
You just lie
I cry out
You just cry
We came from strange directions
But arrived here just the same
You're caught up
I've come undone
They want a daughter
But I'm not the one
You came from strange directions
But arrived here just the same
I say:
Come on, come on,
You say:
Come on, come on
They say:
Hold on, hold on.
I love you
You love me
But they are terrified
Of setting you free
Its a sad, sad situation
Two kinds of love
Two worlds apart.
I lie there
You just lie
I cry out
You just cry
We came from strange directions
But arrived here just the same
You're caught up
I've come undone
They want a daughter
But I'm not the one
You came from strange directions
But arrived here just the same
I say:
Come on, come on,
They say:
Come on, come on
Now you say:
Hold on, hold on.
